A Certified Master Trainer from New York Master Trainer of Institute, Zainal is part of the driving force of UMW Training Centre Sdn Bhd with intense dedication towards improving personal and organizational performances - with a track record in the public and private sector.


Started his early career as an educator in Education Ministry way back in 1989, he transformed his career by joining University Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) in 1999 as a lecturer in College of Business Management, specializing in Human Resource Management subjects. Subsequently, he joined several other organizations as a human resource practitioner, namely Technology Park Malaysia Corporation Sdn Bhd (2001) as a Human Resource and Administration Manager, Malaysia Building Society Berhad (MBSB) in 2003 as Training Manager before being promoted to the Head of Human Resources, and Ann Joo Resources Berhad, a steel manufacturing company, as a Group Human Resource Manager until 2005. He moved to Edaran Otomobil Nasional Berhad as Senior Manager, Human Resource and Administration Division before being head hunted to join Time Engineering Berhad as the Head of Human Resource in 2008. In 2010, he decided to explore on his own as an HR Consultant for two years before decided to return to the corporate world in 2012 with UDA Holdings Berhad as a Senior Vice President of Human Resource Division. In the year 2015, he joined UMW Corporation Sdn Bhd as a General Manager, Group Human Capital before being assigned to UMW Training Centre Sdn Bhd in 2017.


During his tenure as a HR practitioner, he has done extensive corporate exercises, be it change management, corporate re-structure, business process re-engineering, cost rationalization, business turnover, HR change agent, work culture improvement and many more. A strong believer in a possible human capability transformation, Zainal sticks to his motto influenced by Les Brown – “It’s not over until I win!”
